University of Illinois Extension
Kristin works to increase Great Lakes literacy across the basin, primarily by working with formal and nonformal educators. She is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of Great Lakes programming for educators.
One of CGLL’s cornerstone professional learning experiences she leads is the Shipboard Science Immersion that takes place annually on U.S. EPA’s research vessel, the Lake Guardian.
Kristin also works closely with Janice Milanovich to provide educators with resources to incorporate the Great Lakes and aquatic sciences into their programming, including the Limno Loan program and Students Ask Scientists. In addition, she helps organize IL-IN Sea Grant’s internship program, working with partners to host undergraduate summer interns.
She has a M.E.M. in Coastal Environmental Management from Duke University and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame.
She also brings past experience in aquatic invasive species outreach and environmental education. Though Kristin works for IL-IN Sea Grant, her position is housed in the U.S. EPA Great Lakes National Program Office in Chicago, IL.
