Join GLEAMs, CGLL, and Sea Grant as we connect live with the U.S. EPA R/V Lake Guardian, while it traverses Lake Michigan to study water quality, underwater archaeology, and the lower food web! This special webinar will provide us with a behind-the-scenes look at one of the Great Lakes’ premier research vessels (R/V) during the Center for Great Lakes Literacy’s (CGLL) Shipboard Science Immersion, in which 15 educators are working alongside researchers for the week. This event will also showcase the Students Ask Scientist program—an exciting opportunity for educators to connect their classrooms directly with Great Lakes scientists throughout the year. Plus, we will hear from Meaghan Gass of Michigan Sea Grant to learn more about the myriad ways CGLL (pronounced sea-gull) fosters a community of Great Lake stewards, including an introduction to a newly launched searchable resource library.
What to Expect:
Whether you’re a seasoned educator or just beginning your journey, this is a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, and be inspired by real-world science on the Great Lakes.
This event is open to the public, but the event recording is only available to GLEAMS (Great Lakes Educators of Aquatic and Marine Science) members.
