Pennsylvania Aquaponics Educator Workshop

Aquaponics is a powerful teaching tool for Pre-K-12 learners. From engineering to chemistry, business to food health and even global food security, aquaponics addresses many topics and applies placed-based learning methods. This one-and-a-half day workshop will cover the basics of aquaculture and aquaponics and includes: local facilities tours, make and take aquaponics system, resource sharing.

  • What: Aquaponics Educator Workshop
  • When: Wednesday, July 15, 2026, 1-6 PM and Thursday, July 16, 2026, 8 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Where: Tom Ridge Environmental Center, 301 Peninsula Drive, Erie, PA 16505 and surrounding area (Erie, PA)
  • Who: This workshop is for Pre-K-12 formal and nonformal educators. With a priority to PA educators; other states’ educators will be added to a waitlist and notified if space is available. The workshop is hosted by Pennsylvania Sea Grant and Michigan Sea Grant through the Youth Education in Aquaculture initiative with funding from the Great Lakes Aquaculture Collaborative, Center for Great Lakes Literacy, and Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
  • Cost: Free! + $250 participation stipend + PA Act 48 hours as applicable.
