Application Deadline: Lake Huron PBSE Summer Institute

  • What: 2.5 day workshop designed to support educators exploring Great Lakes literacy, the pedagogy of place-based stewardship education (PBSE), and Great Lakes fisheries and watershed issues and opportunities
  • Who: Open to Michigan educators. Educators from the same school who apply in teams will be given greater consideration, particularly teams bringing on educators that are new to place-based stewardship education. 
  • When: July 21-23, 2025
  • Where: Presque Isle, Michigan

Apply for the Lake Huron Place-Based Stewardship Education Summer Institute by June 1!

Educators from the Lake Huron watershed are invited to apply for this free 2.5 day immersive workshop being held in Presque Isle, Michigan. This year’s Institute will focus on Great Lakes literacy, the pedagogy of place-based stewardship education (PBSE), and Great Lakes fisheries and watershed issues and opportunities. During the institute, partners from a variety of organizations will model in-the-field educational opportunities and educators will have time to build relationships and plan a robust PBSE project.

Participating educators receive a $500 project stipend to support engaging their youth learners.

This workshop is supported by the partners in the Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative and Center for Great Lakes Literacy with funding from Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and the MiSTEM Network.
